Didactum Backup Power Module – Reliable emergency power solution for monitoring systems
The Didactum Backup Power Supply Module is an essential expansion for users who rely on maximum uptime and continuous system availability of their monitoring solutions. Particularly in data centers, industrial sites, and building management systems, this module ensures that your Didactum monitoring system continues operating reliably even during power outages.
An unexpected power failure can endanger sensitive data and interrupt critical processes. With the backup power supply, both the monitoring system and all connected sensors remain active—ensuring uninterrupted data collection, alerting, and security.
Easy integration into Didactum monitoring systems
The module is compatible with Didactum monitoring systems 500T and 550T, as well as with Power Distribution Units (PDUs). It is installed via the designated slot in the system housing and is automatically detected (Plug‑and‑Play).
After inserting the recommended Li‑Ion batteries (type 14500 800 2.5A BUTTON TOP XTAR), the module connects directly to the system. The monitoring device immediately assumes power management without any manual configuration. The system is operational within minutes.
Seamless switchover during power loss
Under normal conditions, the power supply operates via the primary grid while simultaneously charging the backup batteries. In the event of a mains outage or voltage drop, the module switches seamlessly to battery mode. All sensors—for example, for temperature, humidity, smoke, or water leakage—remain powered.
Once the main power supply is restored, the system automatically switches back and recharges the batteries, ensuring a continuously ready backup capacity.
Backup capacity and runtime
The backup power module provides the following estimated runtime depending on system load:
- Up to 8 minutes at maximum load
- Up to 8 hours at low sensor utilization
This makes it suitable for both short‑term power interruptions and extended voltage issues, such as those occurring during maintenance or grid fluctuations.
Central status monitoring
The charge and operational status of the backup power supply can be viewed at any time via the Didactum monitoring system’s web interface. In the event of low battery or technical fault, the system automatically sends an alert via:
- Email notification
- SMS via GSM modem
- SNMP trap to network management systems
This ensures that responsible personnel are always informed and can respond quickly when needed.
