Didactum Modbus RTU Expansion Module – Flexible integration of industrial devices
The Didactum Modbus RTU expansion module extends your monitoring system with the ability to seamlessly integrate up to 32 Modbus RTU devices – such as sensors, meters, or controllers. With support for daisy-chain installations up to 1000 m in cable length, it is ideally suited for large-scale and complex infrastructures in server rooms, industrial facilities, and building management systems.
Server Room and Data Center Monitoring
In critical IT environments, the module ensures centralized data acquisition from Modbus-capable sensors such as temperature, humidity, differential pressure sensors, energy meters, or UPS systems. Each connected Modbus sensor is represented in the Didactum system as a virtual sensor. All readings are available for network monitoring systems via the web interface or SNMP.
Individual thresholds and alarm rules enable the detection of conditions such as overheating, high humidity, abnormal power consumption, or UPS malfunctions. The integration of Modbus RTU devices also allows for centralized control of climate systems, ventilation units, or access control systems.
Industrial and Building Management
Beyond IT environments, the module offers advantages in industrial automation – for connecting flow, pressure, or production sensors, as well as energy meters. These can be centrally monitored, controlled, and integrated into existing processes to optimize production efficiency.

Easy Installation and Integration
Installation is straightforward: the slot PCB is inserted into the monitoring system without requiring a restart. The internal termination resistor is enabled by default but can be deactivated for long or multi-branch bus installations.
Depending on the system model, the module is equipped with either a 90° angled connector (100T, 500T, 550T) or a straight connector (300T).
Configuration via Web Interface
Setup is conveniently performed through the web interface of the Didactum monitoring system. Here, virtual sensors can be created, named, and assigned thresholds. Graphical display as icons and integration into existing alarm or automation processes are easily achievable.
