- I want to output temperature alarms via potential-free contact with 12V to the existing alarm system.
The sensorProbe8 can switch potential-free contacts up to an output voltage of 5V using the Dry Contact Sensor.
- I want to integrate my UPS system into the network monitoring of the AKCP Alarm Servers. What are the differences between E-opto16, IO-Digital8, DCS15 and 5DCS15 for connecting potential-free contacts/relays?
The E-opto16 expansion module offers 16 opto-isolated inputs for monitoring potential-free contacts of UPS systems, telecommunications, and power supply systems. Alarm relays from building systems (alarm system, heating, air conditioning) can also be integrated into network monitoring. The allowed voltage of potential-free contacts/relays can range from 5 - 24V DC. Important: the E-opto16 is only suitable for monitoring input signals from potential-free contacts and was developed solely for the securityProbe-5E.
The IO-Digital8 module offers 8 ports for potential-free contacts/relays and, in combination with securityProbe alarm servers, monitors critical systems such as UPS units or air conditioning. Alarm messages are forwarded directly to responsible staff. It can switch contacts both on input and output side. Up to 8 IO-Digital8 can be connected to a securityProbe-5E = 64 contacts monitored. In the web interface you can manage and configure contacts. The Dry Contact Sensor supports 2-pin contacts, for input/output configuration, and is suitable for sensorProbe2, sensorProbe8, and securityProbe.
The dry contact sensor with 5 inputs allows up to 5 potential-free contacts/relays (PBX, UPS etc.). This sensor is only suitable for sensorProbe2 DC. If you already use sensorProbe2, you can order upgrade software (AKDCUPGSP2) at Didactum to monitor up to 10 contacts.
- Can the dry contact ports on sensorProbe8-X20/X60 or securityProbe X20/X60 be configured as outputs?
No. Dry contacts on these models can only be configured as inputs. To switch relays, use the Dry Contact Sensor or modules like IODC8/IODCRJ8.
- I have questions about SNMP integration of the monitoring hardware. I also need more information about OIDs of the sensors.
Please contact our support team for further information about SNMP integration of sensorProbe2, sensorProbe8, or securityProbe5E. Call Tel. +49 2501 971 63 55 or email support[at]didactum.com. On request we will send you the SNMP manual and list of sensor OIDs.
- How can I protect my Windows servers in case of emergencies in the data center or server room?
In case of hazards such as water leaks, fire, power outage, cooling or ventilation failures, the securityProbe can automatically initiate orderly shutdown of Windows servers.
- How do I integrate sensorProbe and securityProbe hardware into WhatsUp Gold?
The SNMP-based sensorProbe and securityProbe units and attached environmental sensors can be integrated into WhatsUp Gold.
- I want to extend my AKCP camera cable
To extend the cable, use high-quality RG-6 coax. You can extend AKCP cameras up to 100 meters. Didactum® technicians can also perform installation on site. securityProbe offers a combination of environmental monitoring (fire, water, heat, etc.) and video surveillance.
- Do I need to calibrate the AKCP temperature sensor before use?
No. High-precision temperature and combo temperature+humidity sensors are factory calibrated. Just plug into device—no recalibration required.
- I want to connect dry contacts to sensorProbe8-X20. What is maximum voltage?
A maximum of 30V can be applied to the dry contacts of sensorProbe8-X20 or X60.
- I want to extend my AKCP sensors
Please strictly observe manufacturer guidelines. You can order sensors in different lengths from Didactum®. Selected models can be extended via CAT cable. We recommend official AKCP extension cables.
- How do I disable SIM PIN request of GSM modem?
Insert SIM in a regular phone, enter code, disable SIM PIN request in settings. Remember to power down modem before removing SIM. Alternatively, disable with AT command via terminal program. See modem manual for AT command details.
- Temperature readings of AKCP measurement chain
Customers ask if each reading of the up to 150m chain is displayed separately. Yes, in the web interface each sensor is listed, and each has its own OID for integration with NMS such as HP OpenView, OpenNMS, Tivoli, MRTG, WhatsUp, Nagios etc.
- Temperature chain not detected by securityProbe
If new AKCP chain sensors are not recognized by securityProbe/5E/X20/X60, check if firmware is SEC-PXAV384S or later.
- Pinout of 5-input dry contact sensor
Pinout:
Black: Ground
Blue: PIN 1
Yellow: PIN 2
Brown: PIN 3
Orange: PIN 4
Red: PIN 5
In sensorProbe2 DC interface, contacts appear as Port 3-7 (RJ-45 1) and Port 8-12 (RJ-45 2).
