Intelligent IoT control with the logic.hub from Wiesemann & Theis

The logic.hub from Wiesemann & Theis is a compact all-in-one solution for building automation and Industry 4.0. It combines a powerful MQTT broker, an intuitive logic editor, and a user-friendly dashboard in a device designed for DIN rail mounting. This enables quick and secure networking of IoT devices from various manufacturers via the MQTT protocol and allows complex automation processes without external software.

With plug-and-play commissioning, Power-over-Ethernet, and rugged hardware, the logic.hub is suitable for a wide range of applications – from controlling individual building parameters to production monitoring in industry.

Graphical automation with the logic editor

The integrated logic editor enables graphical creation of automation workflows. Functional blocks can be connected by drag-and-drop in a browser to define processes without writing traditional programming code. The editor supports conditions, loops, schedules, and event triggers, allowing both simple and complex processes to be implemented.

Example: A temperature sensor sends readings to the logic.hub. Using the logic editor, a workflow is created that automatically activates a cooling unit when predefined thresholds are exceeded. Scheduled logic can further optimize operating times.

Integrated MQTT broker for vendor-independent networking

The MQTT broker in the logic.hub serves as a central communication platform for connected devices. MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) is a lightweight, efficient publish/subscribe protocol optimized for IoT and M2M applications.

With the logic.hub, sensors can publish values to defined topics, while actuators or controllers subscribe to these topics and react accordingly. Thanks to vendor-independent MQTT communication, devices from various brands – from room climate sensors to industrial controllers – can be seamlessly integrated.

Encrypted communication ensures secure data transport, which is especially important in security-critical infrastructures.

User-friendly data visualization in the dashboard

The logic.hub’s integrated dashboard provides real-time visualization and control of all connected devices. Dashboards can be customized to clearly display temperatures, switch states, energy usage, or production parameters. Interactive controls allow direct control of actuators – such as switching lighting or machines.

Example: On a smart building dashboard, current room temperatures are displayed, and the user can immediately adjust heating controls using a button.

Secure and flexible network integration

The logic.hub features a 10/100BaseT network interface for easy integration into existing networks. Configuration is handled via web-based management, allowing all settings – from logic editing to dashboard design – to be managed centrally in the browser.

Using WuTility, commissioning can be completed in just a few clicks. The WuT Launcher assists with IP address detection and device information access, simplifying administration.

Power supply and energy efficiency

The logic.hub can be powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) or external DC (24–48 V). This allows flexible installation even in environments without a dedicated power source. Buffer capacitors enable safe shutdown in case of power failure, preventing data loss.

The energy-efficient design ensures cost-effective, resource-conscious continuous operation, while the durable build supports long-term use in demanding applications.

Standards compliance and robustness

The logic.hub complies with:

  • EN 61000-6-2 (immunity)
  • EN 55032:2015 + A1 Class B (emissions)
  • EN 61000-3-2 / EN 61000-3-3 (electromagnetic compatibility)

Suitable for industrial, office, and residential environments, it is CE and UL certified for international use. Wiesemann & Theis provides a five-year warranty.

Typical application examples

  • Building automation: control lighting, climate, and energy usage via sensor data and schedules
  • Industrial automation: process monitoring and machine control using MQTT communication
  • Smart energy: integrate energy meters and control consumers for improved efficiency

Compact complete solution for IoT and automation projects

The logic.hub from Wiesemann & Theis combines automation logic, device networking, and data visualization in a single system. With an MQTT broker, flexible logic creation, and an intuitive dashboard, it enables quick integration and central control of diverse devices. Featuring PoE, web management, and robust hardware, it offers a durable, secure, and scalable solution for smart building and Industry 4.0 applications.

logic.hub
The logic.hub integrates an MQTT broker that serves as a central communication platform for network-capable IoT devices. MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) is a lightweight protocol based on the publish/subscribe model optimized for reliable data transmission in IoT environments.

The MQTT broker in the logic.hub enables vendor-independent networking of devices such as sensors, actuators, or controllers that support the MQTT protocol. For example, a humidity sensor can publish data to an MQTT topic, while an irrigation system subscribes to this data to react automatically.
