  • The sensorProbe2/8 does not accept the new gateway IP I entered in the web interface.

Please check whether the correct IP address has been entered in the web interface. If the sensorProbe2/8 cannot find the IP address, the default IP is automatically applied.

  • I have problems integrating the sensorProbe with my email server

If you have issues using the sensorProbe2/8 with your email server, try entering the IP address of your mail server. Before contacting support, check the following:

  • IP address of the mail server
  • Gateway IP
  • Verify the "send mail option" in sensorProbe email settings
  • Verify the email address is correct
  • Check if "timeout period" is set correctly
  • Check SSL settings of your mail server
  • How do I check if a connected intelligent sensor reports critical values?

You can directly check the global status of all connected sensors via SNMP command. OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.1.2.0.

To identify which sensor reports a critical value, run an SNMPwalk on the sensorProbe or securityProbe.

  • I want to check the MAC address of my sensorProbe via SNMP.

With OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.2.2.1.3.0 you can determine the exact MAC address of your sensorProbe or securityProbe.

  • I receive false alarms from my connected AKCP smoke detector sensor.

Didactum® offers a solution for customers experiencing issues with AKCP smoke detectors connected to sensorProbe or securityProbe, available in the protected download area.

  • I want to use the new sensorProbe2 functions.

New functions are only available on newer sensorProbe2 devices with mega256 hardware (since October 2009). These can be identified as MAC IDs starting with 00-0B-DC-00-XX (XX from FA and up). Firmware Sp406+ required. Didactum® offers an easy upgrade kit (Up-AK-SP2).

  • My Exchange Server limits the length of email alerts from sensorProbe.

If Exchange truncates emails longer than 160 characters, use the PRTG Traffic Grapher tool to customize the notification text content.

  • I want to export temperature values measured by the AKCP sensorProbe.

Measurement values from connected sensors can be exported as text files using datadownload.exe from AKCP’s download area. Exported file contains host IP, port number, sensor type. Example: 192.168.0.100_p1_temperature.txt

DOS usage: datadownload -i sensorProbeIP -p password -o

-i = sensorProbe IP -p = password -t = local timezone timestamp -o = overwrite existing text file

Example: dataDownload -i 192.168.0.100 -p public -o

Data can then be imported into Excel. Alternatively, use DataCollect G3.5 (Windows OS) or MRTG/Cacti.

  • My 4-year-old sensorProbe8 no longer detects one of the connected sensors

Check RJ-45 sensor connector and cable extensions. Try another port. If still faulty, clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol (caution: flammable). Ensure it evaporates before reconnecting.

  • May I use both 48VDC supply and external power supply on DCW models?

No, you must use either redundant internal 48VDC or the external 7.5V PSU, not both. See Didactum® manual for details.

  • During firmware update of sensorProbe2 I get "Received bad CRC"

Please contact Didactum® technical support immediately for resolution.

  • I want to integrate sensorProbe2 with WhatsUp Gold

SP2 icons can be downloaded to integrate as independent device icons within WhatsUp Gold.

  • How do I retrieve the system name of my sensorProbe2 via SNMP?

Command: snmpget -m all -v1 -c <community> <IPaddress> .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0

  • How do I change the content of email alerts sent by sensorProbe?

Use SNMP command: snmpset -m all -v1 -c <community> <IPaddress> .1.3.6.1.4.1.3854.1.2.2.1.112.0 I <value> - 1 = email alert enabled, 0 = disabled

  • Does sensorProbe2 support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

Yes, Didactum offers a PoE-capable model version.

  • Which batteries are needed for sensorProbe8 and securityProbe?

Backup battery = 3V button cell. Recommended: Maxell CR2052.

  • Is there a guide for integrating sensorProbe devices with Nagios?

Yes, Didactum® provides a guide for SP2, SP8, SP8-X20, SP8-X60 integration with Nagios.

  • Why don’t I see “Web Interface Password Settings” under Settings in my SP8?

SP8 still uses mega128 chip, lacking separate password support. New SP8 with mega256 will support this feature.

  • I get a warning about backup battery status on my new sensorProbe8

Upgrade firmware to latest version. If warning persists, contact support.

  • How do I import MIB files of sensorProbe2 into HP SIM?

Use "mxmib" command in HP SIM to import MIB files. See HP SIM documentation. Contact Didactum® for help.

  • Where can I find MIB files for integrating sensorProbe with Nagios?

MIB files are on the CD under \akcp_utilities\mib\.

  • How can I update the firmware of my AKCP sensorProbe?

Download latest firmware, use IPSet tool with crossover cable to update. Follow instructions from Didactum®. Warning: Update at your own risk.

  • How many data points can sensorProbe store and for how long?

Internal datalogger stores up to 8600 readings per sensor. At 15-minute intervals, data logged for approx. 3 months before oldest data overwritten.

  • Lost password of sensorProbe2 monitoring system
