HW-group JS-20 Motion Detector – Precise Indoor Motion Detection

The HW‑group motion detector JS‑20 is a passive infrared sensor (PIR) specifically designed for reliable motion detection in sensitive indoor environments. Whether in server rooms, data centers, offices, warehouses, or telecommunication facilities – this motion detector provides precise detection, high false alarm immunity, and seamless integration into HW‑group monitoring systems.

With a detection angle of 120 degrees and a range of up to 12 meters, the JS‑20 ensures quick detection of people or object movements. Its signal analysis is designed to minimize interference from electromagnetic fields and rapid temperature changes. The result: dependable alerts without frequent false alarms.

The detector operates with a relay output (dry contact) that can be directly connected to HW‑group devices such as Poseidon2, Ares, STE2, or Damocles. This enables real-time motion event notifications to be transmitted via LAN, GSM, SNMP, or e‑mail to security teams. An additional free terminal pair (GBS) is available for flexible system integration.

Precise Motion Detection with High Noise Immunity

The core of the JS‑20 is its advanced multiple signal analysis. This evaluation logic ensures reliable motion detection while filtering out typical sources of interference. Even in environments with strong radio frequency activity or temperature fluctuations—such as those caused by air conditioning systems in server rooms—the false alarm rate remains extremely low.

The sensor’s sensitivity can be adjusted using jumper settings to match environmental conditions. This allows fine-tuning for challenging locations, ensuring accurate object detection even where conventional PIR sensors may fail.

Flexible Lens Options for Different Applications

The HW‑group JS‑20 is supplied with a standard wide-angle lens providing a 120° detection area and a range of up to 12 m. Depending on operational requirements, special lens options can be used:

  • Long-corridor lens: Ideal for narrow, elongated spaces such as hallways in data centers or warehouses.
  • Pet‑immune lens: Suitable for rooms where small animals are present, preventing false alarms caused by minor movements.

Easy Installation and Integration

For optimal detection, an installation height of 2.5 meters is recommended. Mounting can be done flat on a wall or neatly in a room corner. The connection is made via terminals that link to the digital inputs (dry contact) of HW‑group monitoring devices.

Electrically, the motion detector operates on 12 V DC ± 25 %. Power consumption is up to 10 mA in normal mode without LED indication and up to 35 mA with the LED indicator active. The stabilization period after power-up is a maximum of 180 seconds before full operation begins.

Typical Applications

  • Server rooms & data centers: Detection of unauthorized access or movements during maintenance periods.
  • Office & commercial areas: Enhanced access control with motion detection outside of working hours.
  • Telecommunication rooms: Protection of critical infrastructure against unauthorized entry.
  • Storage areas: Immediate alert notifications upon movement in secured storage zones.
  • Integrated remote monitoring: Automatic e‑mail, SMS, or SNMP‑trap alerts upon motion detection.

Integration into HW‑group Systems

The JS‑20 motion detector is fully compatible with HW‑group devices such as Poseidon2, Ares, STE2, and Damocles. These systems support real-time communication via LAN, GSM, SNMP, or Modbus/TCP. Thus, the motion sensor can become part of a complete security solution that integrates other sensors for temperature, humidity, smoke, or access control.

Using the HWg‑PDMS software, motion events can be recorded, analyzed, and exported for documentation. For multi-site monitoring, the SensDesk portal (Android/iOS) provides a clear and centralized visualization of all connected sensors.

The HW‑group JS‑20 motion detector is a flexible, precise, and securely integrable PIR sensor designed for professional use in IT, office, and industrial environments. Its low false alarm rate, interchangeable lenses, and easy installation make it the perfect choice for operators who value reliable motion detection and centralized remote monitoring.

Motion Sensor - Reliable Motion Detection

Motion Sensor - Reliable Motion Detection
The HW-group JS-20 motion sensor is a passive infrared motion detector (PIR sensor) specifically designed for object protection and indoor monitoring in server rooms, data centers, offices, and other sensitive areas. The sensor uses advanced signal analysis to detect movements precisely and minimize false alarms.

Upon detecting motion, the sensor activates a relay that can be connected to HW-group devices such as Poseidon2 or Ares to enable remote monitoring via LAN, GSM, SNMP, or email. The sensor is ideal for server room monitoring and offers high connectivity through a free relay contact (GBS).
