HW-group Damocles2 MINI – Compact I/O monitoring with alarms

HW-group Damocles2 MINI

The HW-group Damocles2 MINI is a compact networked device for secure monitoring and control of digital inputs and outputs. Designed for data centers, telecom, industrial sites, and smart buildings, it collects critical status data and controls external systems, making it a reliable IoT-ready module for remote monitoring and alarm management.

The unit provides 4 digital inputs (DI) for dry contacts and 2 relay outputs (DO, NO/NC). This enables monitoring of door contacts, smoke detectors, or counters and executing actions such as switching external infrastructure systems. Each input includes a 32-bit S0 pulse counter for metering consumption and utility data.

Technical Features

  • 4 digital inputs (DI) with 32-bit S0 pulse counters
  • 2 relay outputs (DO) for local or remote control
  • Up to 8 Virtual Digital Outputs (VDO) for LAN-based M2M communication
  • Internal datalogger for 250,000+ events
  • Ethernet connectivity, optional PoE (Set-version)
  • Protocols: HTTPS, IPv6, SNMPv3, MQTT, Modbus/TCP, XML, HWg-Push
  • Alarming via email, SNMP traps, SMS, or voice (via SMS gateway)
  • Power: 9–30 V DC or PoE (Set-version)
  • Compact metal housing for IT & industrial deployment

Flexible Monitoring & Control

With digital inputs supporting any dry-contact sensor, the Damocles2 MINI integrates signals from doors, smoke detectors, or machine alarms. The relay outputs allow direct control of external equipment such as fans, HVAC units, alarms, or access systems. Virtual outputs (VDO) enable M2M communication with other Damocles2 or Poseidon2 units.

IT & IoT Integration

Supporting HTTPS, SNMPv3, MQTT, Modbus/TCP, and XML, the Damocles2 MINI plugs directly into SCADA, IoT, and cloud systems, including Microsoft Azure and AWS IoT. Developers benefit from the HWg-SDK with C#, PHP, and Java support. Full integration with SensDesk and HWg-cloud.com enables centralized alarms, reports, and multi-user management.

Alarming & Event Management

Flexible alerts are triggered on status changes:

  • Email direct from device or via portal
  • SNMP traps for NMS and IT platforms
  • SMS/voice alerts over SMS-GW3
  • Relay control for instant device activation

Typical Applications

  • Data centers – monitoring doors & security alarms
  • Telecom – supervision of base stations & remote rooms
  • Industry – integration of smoke detectors, counters, machine states
  • Building automation – access, HVAC, safety signaling
  • Smart buildings – IoT integration via SNMP or MQTT

Variants

  • Damocles2 MINI: Base unit with 4 DI + 2 DO in compact housing
  • Damocles2 MINI Set: Includes PSU, PoE capability, software, and quickstart guide

Conclusion

The HW-group Damocles2 MINI is a compact, secure, and versatile I/O monitoring device. With 4 inputs, 2 relays, virtual outputs, strong protocol support, and cloud integration, it is suited for data centers, industry, telecom, and smart building environments. Fully IoT-ready, it provides future-proof infrastructure monitoring and automated control.
