HW-group WLD Water Detection Chain A – area-based security against water leaks

HW-group WLD Wasserdetektionskette A

Water is one of the biggest risk factors for critical infrastructures. Unlike power outages, even small leaks can cause irreversible damage such as data loss, downtime, or destruction of equipment. The HW-group WLD Detection Cable A provides full-length water detection, offering area-based monitoring instead of single-point alerts, ensuring comprehensive protection for IT and industrial facilities.

Unlike spot detectors, the detection chain monitors its entire length, registering even the smallest drops. This ensures reliable and immediate leak alarms across server rooms, raised floors, cooling units, and storage areas.

Key Advantages

  • Full-length leak detection across the entire cable
  • Signal states: Normal, Flooded, Cable break
  • Available in 2 m, 10 m, 50 m variants; extendable up to 85 m per zone
  • Up to 185 m total range with prolong cables
  • Robust against pressure, twisting, and bending
  • Reusable after drying, reducing costs
  • Compatible with HWg-WLD Relay, WLD2, Perseus, SD-WLD
  • Operating range: 0–100 °C, 0–100% humidity

How It Works

Using precise resistance measurement, the cable reacts to conductive liquids like water or glycol. Regardless of where the liquid appears, the system triggers alarms immediately, ensuring a fast and effective early warning system.

Typical Applications

  • Server rooms – cooling or pipe leak detection under raised floors
  • Data centers – early protection of critical racks
  • Air conditioning – early detection of condensate or drips
  • Industry – supervision of process and cooling lines
  • Museums & archives – protecting sensitive materials and documents
  • Building technology – basements, technical rooms, or wet areas

Flexible Length Options

Available in 2 m, 10 m, or 50 m lengths, the chain can be combined up to 85 m zones. With prolong cables, installations can reach 185 m. This modularity suits both pinpoint and large-scale coverage needs.

Easy Installation & Reuse

Installation along floors, walls, or pipes is simple. Pressure or twisting does not affect the function. After water detection, the cable can be dried and reused, making it cost-effective compared to disposable alternatives.

Sets & Variants

  • 2 m Detection Cable Type A
  • 10 m Detection Cable Type A
  • 50 m Detection Cable Type A
  • Set: 2 m + 2 m connection cable
  • Set: 10 m + 2 m connection cable
  • Set: 50 m + 2 m connection cable

Integration & Reporting

Fully compatible with SensDesk, WLD2, HWg-Relay, and Perseus Monitoring. Events can be logged, visualized, and reported. Automated PDF reports support compliance and audits. Integration via SNMP, XML, or open APIs ensures interoperability with IT and SCADA systems.

The HW-group WLD Detection Cable A delivers reliable, scalable, and reusable leak monitoring. With lengths up to 185 m, robust design, and full cloud integration, it ensures a

The sensor cable is a core component of the HW group water leak detection system and works in combination with devices such as HWg-WLD, HWg-WLD Relay, SD-WLD, WLD2, or Perseus Monitoring 140–155.

The cable detects even the smallest amounts of liquid and immediately triggers an alarm, which can be forwarded via e-mail, SNMP traps, or other monitoring systems. A key feature is its reusability: after a leak, the cable can be cleaned, dried, and reused, helping to reduce long-term costs.
